2008 Year In Review
Every year, Open Arms International touches thousands of lives with medical care and the love of Jesus. Look at what your generous support made possible in Eldoret, Kenya in 2008:
During outreaches
- Treated more than 3,000 people in medical, dental, and eye clinics
- Served 1,300 children through children’s ministry
- Led almost 1,000 people to Christ
- Evangelized to 2,575 people and gave Bibles to 300 people
- Distributed 800 meals outside of our regular feeding program (OAI feeds
- 100 children 4 times per week, year-round)
In the aftermath of the Kenya post-election violence
- Relocated 260 internally displaced people (IDPs) back to their homelands
- Rebuilt 6 homes destroyed in the violence
- Fed 200 children for 30 days
- Provided 100 school sets to students taking exams in the IDP camps
- Distributed hundreds of bags of rice, maize, and porridge to IDP camps
- Worked alongside other organizations to treat 12,000 people in IDP camps
Jigger Digger
- Removed jiggers from 18 children’s feet (and some parents)
- Provided new socks and shoes for 96 children
- Fumigated 24 homes for jiggers (38 rooms) and fumigated the local school
- Provided 24 new mattresses for the children in those homes
