Open Arms Village

About Open Arms Village:

Open Arms Village sits on 52 rural acres outside of Eldoret, Kenya.  It is currently home to over 90 children, most of whom have been orphaned, abandoned or removed from homes due to neglect or abuse.  Here these children reside in a clean, safe, Christ-centered community where they can live, learn and thrive.

Open Arms Village provides:

  • A Christ-centered environment for physical, emotional and spiritual healing
  • The structure of nurturing family homes that cultivates purpose, morality and integrity
  • A quality Christian education, at our Open Arms Academy, to empower long-term success
  • A home base from which to operate feeding, mentoring, and medical outreach programs that help the surrounding community
  • Part-time & full-time jobs for the community including house parenting, administration, agriculture, construction and teaching
  • A viable self-sustaining model for training and equipping future generations of African leaders
  • A hope for the future

Generational impact requires a holistic solution.  The Open Arms approach is multifaceted:

  • Body – Feed and heal the body
  • Soul – Build character from a platform of morality centered on Christ
  • Mind – Cultivate a healthy outlook, educate, inspire, and guide the
    development of tomorrow’s leaders
  • Hope – Enlighten and empower a sense of inner belief and hope,
inspiring the optimism that can only come from God’s love

Visit Open Arms Village

Come and see our work in Kenya firsthand.  Open Arms Village features beautifully furnished guest cottages with electricity and clean running water.  Visitors, typically on a two-week mission trip, come to serve either on medical teams in the surrounding community, or work on service projects such as painting, landscaping or grounds keeping.  Summer 2013 will include two medical teams and one service team that will work on various projects around the Village.

Village Sustainability

A long-term goal of Open Arms Village is to be self-reliant.  At our Village we have created a viable model that leverages animals and agriculture to:
  • Generate food for use in the Village and Kambi Teso feeding program
  • Create a surplus that is sold to the community
  • Provide vocational training for the Village children
  • Bring us closer to our goal of long-term self-sustainability
