Vision For the Future

The Open Arms International® vision is broad and ambitious.  Many of the ideas and goals we have had over many years have seemed naïve, if not impossible to some.  But, with God, nothing is impossible.  Although we are acutely aware of the overwhelming scope of need that remains in Kenya and throughout the continent, we remain optimistic for the future.  We are steadfastly committed to transforming Africa, one life at a time. 

 Village Children

  • Successfully raise happy and healthy children on a platform of faith and morality, empowering each to be self-reliant and confident about his/her future when they leave the Village
  • Prepare and inspire Village children to take leadership roles in government, business, medicine, ministry and law for the betterment of Kenya
  • Educate and train village children in a variety of career fields and create job placement centers that will enable them to put their training to use in their local community

 Village Community

  • Complete construction of four additional children’s homes at the Village, bringing our capacity up to to 170 children
  • Procure and cultivate additional acreage for agricultural development
  • Construct an elementary and secondary school to better serve our growing number of children at the Village, as well as the community of Mlango. 
  • Build a permanent medical and dental health care center that serves the needs of children and staff in the Village as well as the local community
  • Build a sport facility for use by both Village and community children, as well as serving as a host venue for community-building events 
  • Build a multi-purpose center to serve as a community hall for the Village as well as hosting community events
  • Build a conference center designed to host leadership conferences for civic, business, educational, ministry and humanitarian teams, as well as medical and dental conferences for health-care professionals from around the world

 

Village Programs

  • Develop a Village Volunteer Corps program wherein Village children can serve the local community, investing their time and talents in the spiritual, physical and social welfare of their neighbors.
  • Create entrepreneurial training programs wherein children will be trained in the skills, techniques and business practices necessary to start their own businesses that will ultimately lead to the creation of more jobs and a stronger economy in their local community and throughout their country
  • Create a resource and development “base camp” at the Village designed to be used by organizations from around the world to train, equip and supply their teams for relief and ministry work throughout the African continent 
  • Continue steady growth of community feeding program and outreach ministry, extending our reach and impact
  • Grow frequency and scope of our medical team outreach, extending our reach and impact
